About Rolvenden Pre School
The Best Start for Your Child
Our Story
Located beside Rolvenden Village Hall, Rolvenden Pre-School is a warm, welcoming environment where children are encouraged to learn, play and grow in confidence as they begin their educational journey.
Established in 1987 as a registered charity, our experienced and dedicated team is passionate about helping every child feel happy, secure and valued. With small session sizes and a nurturing approach, we are able to provide a tailored learning experience that supports each child as an individual and helps prepare them for the exciting move into primary school.
We believe childhood should be filled with curiosity, creativity, friendship and fun — creating memories that both children and parents will look back on as the very best start to school life.
Preparing for School
We help children build confidence, independence and social skills, giving them the very best start for their move into primary school.
Nurturing Environment
A warm and welcoming setting where every child is encouraged to feel safe, valued and confident to explore the world around them.
Learning Through Play
Through creativity, imagination and hands-on experiences, we inspire curiosity and help children develop a lifelong love of learning.
Fun, Fresh Air & Exploration
At Rolvenden Pre-School, we believe early years education is about far more than academics alone. Through play, creativity, outdoor exploration and social interaction, we support the development of the whole child.
You will often find our children outdoors whatever the weather — exploring, discovering and learning through play. We make full use of our outdoor spaces and the village hall itself, giving children opportunities to build confidence, friendships and independence within a safe and nurturing environment.
We are particularly proud of our garden and outdoor areas, where we encourage curiosity, imagination and a love of nature from an early age.
As part of the village community, we value the strong relationships we have with the local primary school, church, businesses and residents, helping children build confidence and connections within the wider world around them.

Working Together with Families
We believe strong partnerships with parents and carers are one of the most important parts of a child’s early years experience.
Following taster sessions, parents are warmly welcomed to stay and support their child as they settle in at their own pace. This helps children feel secure and gives families the opportunity to experience daily life at the pre-school first-hand.
We encourage parents to be actively involved in pre-school life, whether through sharing ideas, supporting fundraising events, helping during sessions or becoming involved with the committee.
Communication with families is extremely important to us and we work hard to keep parents informed about both pre-school activities and their child’s individual progress. Through each child’s personal Tapestry account, families are able to access observations, achievements and developmental milestones online as part of their child’s learning journey.
Every Child is Unique
At Rolvenden Pre-School, every child is valued as an individual with their own personality, strengths and needs.
Our experienced team works closely with families to ensure every child feels supported, included and able to thrive within our setting. We also have staff trained in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and welcome open conversations with families about how we can best support children who may benefit from additional provision or individual approaches to learnin

What Shall We Do Today?
Every day at Rolvenden Pre-School brings new opportunities to learn, play, explore and grow — whether indoors or out in the fresh air.
With our experienced and caring team, welcoming environment and child-led approach to learning, we create days full of fun, creativity and friendship. We understand every child is unique, which is why we encourage children to settle at their own pace, with parents and carers warmly welcomed throughout the transition.
Our daily routine combines play, outdoor exploration, social interaction and guided activities designed to support all areas of development, while still allowing plenty of room for children’s own ideas and imaginations.
No two days are ever quite the same — and that is exactly how we like it.
Ethos & Vision
Our vision for Rolvenden Pre-School is simple.
We aim to provide a setting that gives children a strong springboard to achieve their fullest potential in life.
We foster a fun and exciting environment that promotes independence, self-worth and curiosity while encouraging children to explore the world around them.
With our calm and welcoming setting, displays of children’s creations and a wide range of activities, every child is supported in developing their individuality and confidence.
Everything we do is guided by one simple question:
“What is it like for a child here today?”
